You Need Safety Gear When Using Nunchaku!

A nunchaku is a traditional Okinawan stick weapon consisting of two wooden sticks connected by a length of rope, chain, or wire. The sticks are held in each hand and the weapon can also be used to perform the martial art of Chuko-Den.   The name comes from the Sino-Japanese word "nunchū" ( 旋鈍 ), which means “to rotate without giving way”, as it resembles how these weapons move in combat when swung rapidly. Their practitioners usually wear one or more protective head gear such as helmets or fighting blindfolds to cover their vulnerable eyes during practice. They derive from the same family as the nunchuck (schaft, or "spar") used in multiple other martial arts systems including but not limited to Kendo, Judo, and Aikido.
